Obesity brings with it a truckload of complications—diabetes, heart disease, blood pressure being the top three. Add alcohol to the mix and what you get is an increased risk of a major disease, namely colorectal cancer.
A case-control study from Newfoundland/Labrador has reported that greater alcohol intake may increase the risk of colorectal cancer [CRC] among obese individuals, but not among non-obese individuals. This was true especially in those who drank five or more drinks every day.
Although the study was done on a relatively small sample size, it does serve as a warning to those battling weight as well as the bottle.
