Last year, around this time, I wrote about the Let It Go Box, an initiative of the Sadhu Vaswani Mission (SVM) in Pune, where visitors could drop a note expressing whichever emotions they wanted to release. Even then, I found it striking how such a simple action, so unassuming, could channel so much healing. This year, SVM has done something similar, except the box has become a portal, accessible to anyone around the world.

Pause, Reset, and Go

Every year on August 2nd, SVM observes Dada J P Vaswani’s birthday with the Moment of Calm, two minutes of collective stillness at 2 p.m., a fitting tribute to a saint who dedicated his life teaching people how to let go rather than hold on. This year’s initiative, The Peace Portal, takes that same two-minute idea further to enable an emotional reset for anyone feeling overwhelmed.

The design is refreshingly uncomplicated, a 3-step process that begins by naming what you want to let go of: Overthinking, fear, guilt, stress, anger, disappointment, and more. Or if you just need to recalibrate your sense of wellbeing, you can simply choose “the signature reset”.

Step 1: Naming the Emotion

The first step sets you up for a powerful shift. Before you can let something go, you have to know what you are holding on to. Dada once said, “One way of breaking the force of the negative emotion is to relax, and the secret of relaxation lies in the three words: ‘Let it go!'”

The Peace Portal asks you to pause and name the heavy feeling, setting you on the path to letting go and relaxing. For example, are you overthinking or is it anxiety? Are you suffering from guilt or gripped by fear? Every emotion feels different and naming it correctly is half the work of letting it go.

Step 2: Pause, Breathe, Contemplate

As we move to the second step, there is something to be said for the brevity of it. We live in a culture that treats healing as if it requires retreats, weeks of therapy, or elaborate rituals… and sometimes it does. But Dada understood that a person does not always need an hour of stillness to shift their state. Two minutes, offered with sincerity and attention, is enough to interrupt a downward spiral and remind the mind that it has a choice.

You can think of the Peace Portal as a sort of spiritual pit stop. No need to plan for it. You don’t need quiet surroundings or even a cushion on the floor. All you need is two minutes and a willingness to show up for yourself.

Step 3: Reflect and Transform

The third step, which is to check in with yourself, is easy to overlook, but I think it is the most important part of the process. So much of our inner work happens without reflection. We meditate, we pray, we vent, and then we move on without ever asking what changed within us. The Peace Portal process asks you to notice, even briefly, whether something in you has softened.

What we notice shapes what we experience. What we choose to pay attention to becomes our reality. The small step of checking in after your participation turns a simple two-minute pause into something far more powerful: a heightened sense of aliveness.

A Reset for the Little Hearts

What touched me the most about the Peace Portal is that the same three-step process has also been thoughtfully adapted for children.

The process, aptly called the “Signature Reset for Kids”, walks the little ones through the same idea of naming a feeling, pausing with it, and letting it go, in a language and tone they can easily relate to. Children carry overthinking, fear, and guilt too, even if they rarely have the words for it. Giving them a version of this practice early, in a form this gentle and this short, may be one of the most valuable offerings of The Peace Portal.

An Invitation, Not an Assignment

I invite you to spare two minutes to experience the power of letting go and discover the sense of healing that follows. Visit The Peace Portal and try it for yourself any time you feel overwhelmed by an emotion. Choose whatever is true for you, even if it is something you have been carrying for years. Let Dada’s words or Krishna Didi’s presence walk you through it.

Name what troubles you, sit with it for two minutes, then check in with yourself. That is all the Peace Portal asks of you, and that is enough. It reflects the same truth Dada spent his life offering us: peace is not something we chase. It is something we choose, again and again, one small reset at a time.
