Q: When I wake up in the morning, my heel pains. The pain goes away after some time. But this happens every day. I don’t even wear high heels. Why does this happen?
A: Heel pain in the morning could be because of increased body weight. It could also be due to some mild injury to the heel tissues or bones or due to improper footwear. When you sleep, the pressure over the heel eases. It comes back when you wake up, which is what causes the pain. When you start moving, as the heel adjusts itself and the body warms up, the pain subsides.
It’s a good idea to see a physician and get yourself evaluated for your weight/ possible heel injuries. Ask your doctor if the footwear you use is okay. You might also want to get her to teach you some relief measures like regular exercises to help with the pain.
